Humanly combines face verification with one-take, in-app recording to show that the person on the account was present when the video was recorded.

NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, September 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Humanly, a short-video platform built around face verification and one-take recording, is now available worldwide for iPhone and Android. It offers a different approach to video in the age of AI: thirty seconds, one take, and a real person who showed up to say it.

“Humanly started with a simple question: what changes when putting your face behind your words is part of the post itself?” said Ashar Mairaj, founder of Humanly. “The goal is not polished video. It is creating a visible connection between a person, a moment and what they chose to say.”

Humanly does not allow users to upload prerecorded videos or edit posts. Videos are recorded inside the app in a single take of up to 30 seconds. Before posting, each user creates a face signature through a visible verification process that includes liveness checks. Humanly then checks each recorded video against that signature. The result is what Humanly calls a “human receipt“: a short video carrying an additional signal that the person enrolled on the account was physically present and recording when the video was created.

Posts on Humanly are called Humanlies. A Humanly is a statement, not a production: one person, on camera, saying something in their own words. There are no retakes stitched together and no filters, so the pauses and the nervous laugh stay in.

As AI-generated video and deepfakes spread, it is getting harder to tell who is behind a video just by watching it. Rather than detecting synthetic content after the fact, Humanly adds its checks at the moment of creation.

BUILT FOR PEOPLE WHO STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK

Humanly is designed for makers, artists, small business owners and anyone who wants to put a real face next to what they do. A ceramicist can hold up a bowl still warm from the kiln and say what she was trying to make. A gallery can place a QR code beside a piece that opens a Humanly of the artist talking about it. Humanlies are meant to be recognizably, unmistakably someone.

Humanlies can be grouped into Humanly Collections and linked by the poster to a business listing in Humanly’s directory. Currently, Humanly verifies the person in the video, not the business it is linked to.

Humanlies, profiles and collections can be shared across the web or embedded on other sites with Humanly badges, linking back to the original on Humanly, where the verification is displayed.

A HUMANLY CAN ALSO BE REQUESTED

Because Humanlies can be shared privately, they can also be asked for. Before engaging with someone they have only met online, such as a seller, a recruiter, a new business contact or someone they plan to meet in person, a person can ask for a Humanly first.

Mairaj has used it that way himself. Approached on a professional networking site about a senior role by a stranger, he asked for a Humanly before sharing his contact details. The contact replied and offered to make further introductions but never sent one. The profile later disappeared.

“I wasn’t accusing anyone of anything,” Mairaj said. “I just asked for a few seconds of their face and their words, and that turned out to be the one thing they couldn’t send.”

WHAT HUMANLY DOES AND DOES NOT VERIFY

Humanly does not confirm a user’s legal identity, and it does not certify that statements made in a video are true. It offers something narrower: evidence that the person enrolled on the account was present and recording. No verification system is spoof-proof; Humanly’s checks are designed to make impersonation and synthetic posting substantially harder, not impossible.

Humanly is free to download on the App Store and Google Play.
